The Heart of Roommate Life

Hi friends! I’m so happy to see you here. I’m Maya Rose, a second-year university student pursuing a degree in Family Studies, who just moved into her first big-girl apartment! I’m sharing the space with three friends, and I am excited for my first taste of adulthood. About me

I’m Maya Rose, a 20-year-old university student currently starting the most exciting (and slightly terrifying) chapter of my life. After years of living at home, I’ve moved from the comfort of my childhood bedroom and homemade dinners to a shared apartment with three roommates and a room full of textbooks and study materials. One thing that I realized once I moved into my new apartment is that being friends and roommates are sometimes very different, which is what inspired me to share my experiences here.

Lesson of the Month

This month, I’ve learned that the key to surviving the chaos of student life and managing my relationships is learning the importance of attentive and supportive recognition of another person’s needs and interests. It all comes down to making the other person feel valued, protected, and understood. This is so important when it comes to having meaningful and deep relationships.
